Soybean meal has oligosaccharides for instance raffinose and stachyose that cannot be digested by monogastric animals, a result of the lack of a selected endogenous alpha-galactosidase. Raffinose and stachyose might cause flatulence and diarrhoea which could boost the digesta passage level, and decrease digestion and absorption of dietary nutrients
